Abstract:Diabetic cardiomyopathy(DCM)is one of the most serious cardiovascular complications in diabetic patients, and it is also the main cause of increased mortality in diabetic patients, which has become a major global public health problem. As an important intracellular regulatory protein in body, sirtuin 1(SIRT1)plays an important role in many biological processes, including reducing oxidative stress in cardiomyocytes, maintaining Ca2+ homeostasis in myocardial mitochondria, reducing myocardial endoplasmic reticulum stress, improving myocardial mitochondrial dysfunction, and inhibiting the activation of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.SIRT1 may be a potential therapeutic target for DCM.Further research targeting SIRT1 can provide a new theoretical basis for the clinical treatment of DCM.This article reviews the specific role of SIRT1 in the pathogenesis and treatment strategies of DCM.
