Attaching importance to the pathological classification of lumbar disc protrusion, and selecting appropriate treatment

Abstract：Lumbar intervertebrae disc protrusion is a term for the description of morphology, with different pathological changes, pathogenesis and clinical characteristics. We propose a new pathologoical classification including damage-hernia?tion, degeneration-protrusion, posterior vertebral osteochondrosis with disc protrusion, and disc cyst. The appropriate treat?ment including surgical option should be selected according to pathological changes.
