Abstract:Objective: To study the role of epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) and NM23 in the development of gestational
trophoblastic disease. Methods:The expression of EGFR and NM23 in 82 cases of gestational trophoblastic disease and 10
cases of normal placenta were tested with immunohistochemical method. Results:Compared with hydatidiform mole, the ex-
pression of EGFR and NM23 in malignant trophoblastic tumors was decreased and not associated with the proliferation of
trophoblastic cells. Conclusion:The coincident decreased expression of EGFR and NM23 may play an important role in the
development of trophoblastic tumors.
