Treatment of Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation in Elderly Patients with Atrioventricular Node Reentrant Tachycardia
Abstract:To analyze the characteristics of radiofrequency catheter ablation(RFCA)in elderly patients with atrioven tricular node reentrant tachycardia(AVNRT). Methods: Twenty-eight elderly patients and 63 young patients with AVNRT were treated with slow atrioventricular node pathway ablation. Results: The energy were (25.1+10.1) w and (19.9+9.1) w, and radiiofrequency application time were (332.3+144.7) s and (268+88.2) s in elderly and young patients respectively(P<0.05). They were sigrnificant higher in elderly patients than that in young patients. There was no significant difference between two groups in success rate, recurrence rate and complications. Conclusion: RFCA is an effective and safe method in treating AVNRT for elderly patients. Higher effective radiofrequency energy is needed.
