Diagnostic Significance of Expression of P53 on Micrometastases in Lymph NodesAssociated with Lung Cancer
Abstract:Objective: To study the diagnostic significance of expression of P53 on micrometastases in lymph nodes(LNs) associat- ed lung cancer. Methods:The expression of P53 and cytokeratin were determined in 169 LNs of 55 patients with lung cancer by LASB method. Results: The expression of rumor marker was detected in all 55 lung carcirnomas, but not in 10 control LNs. Of the 169 LNs analyzed by immunohistochemical and histological straining,51 LNs were found to have metastases by 2 strainings. Of the 118 LNs, 21 were detected to have micrometastases by using LSAB method. Conclusion: The LSAB method is more sensitive than histological study for the detection of micrometastases in LNs(P < 0.05). It is of value in dif- ferentiating lung cancer patients at high risk for a relapse from those with negative lymph node.
