Endovascular Treatment of Carotid-Ophthalmic Aneurysrns
Abstract:Objective: To study the endovascular treatment of carotid-ophthalmic aneurysms. Methods: There were 7 cases of largeaneurysm in 15 patients with carotid-ophthalmic aneurysns. All of the aneurysms were treated with placement of tungstenfilament microcoils. Results: There were 6 cases total,5 cases > 80% and 4 cases < 50% occlusions. The internal carotid ar-teries in all patients were unobstructed. Two patients had hemiplegia and 1 died after the procedure. Among 3-10 month fol-low-up,5 of them required repeated thrombosis with placement of additional microcoils. Conclusion: Compared with aneu-rysm dips, thrombotic therapy of carotid-ophthalmic aneurysms is a safe and simple procedure.
