A Study on the Differentiation Strategies in Vocational College English Teaching

Abstract：Educators and SLA researchers abroad and at home have been advocating that ESL teachers recognize and respect learners'individual differences and have proposed principles for differentiated teaching.A survey of 388 students'evaluation on English learning tasks in a higher vocational Institute indicates that there exist differences among genders and specialism about learners'perceptions on task difficulty,effectiveness,number,utilization and value of external learning materials to fulfill the tasks.The following three differentiation strategies are proposed to be implemented while setting teaching objectives and task requirements,providing context support materials and consultations,and evaluating learning outcomes and providing feedbacks.
