A Comparative Analysis of the Coupling Relationship of Economic Growth and Carbon Emission in China and Kazakhstan in the New Normal:Also Addressing the Cooperative Space in Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction
LIU Ming-hui
Abstract:It is of great significance to clarify the relationship of economic growth and carbon emission for China’s economy in the new normal. This article selectes in the sample data from 1993 to 2013,using decoupling theory,ADF test, cointegration test and granger test to conduct a comparative analysis of the relationship between economic growth and carbon emission of China and Kazakhstan. The result shows that China and Kazakhstan economic growth mainly relies on coal, oil and other fuels. The overall trend of carbon emission is on the rise. In the sample range, the whole economic growth and carbon emission of China and Kazakhstanbe is in the weak decoupling state, and the decoupling state needs to be optimized. There is a long-term cointegration between carbon emission and economic growth in the two countries, and there is one-way causal relationship between carbon emission and the economic growth. Based on the decoupling generality in two countries between economic growth and the present situation of carbon emission and combined with the new normal economic background in China, this paper intends to discuss bilateral cooperation space to explore new territory for bilateral energy cooperation between the two countries, and to provide research foundation for energy cooperation of other countries along the Silk Road.
