Abstract:Obesity is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by excessive fat content throughout the body or abnormal accumulation of local fat.Its global prevalence continues to rise and has become a major global public health challenge.Against this backdrop, external treatment methods in traditional Chinese medicine had attracted much attention due to their unique advantages.Among them, cupping therapy has shown potential value in obesity intervention thanks to its simplicity of operation, high safety, and good patient compliance. In recent years, the clinical application of cupping in treating obesity has gradually evolved from the traditional single model to a multi-technology collaborative intervention, and it has been incorporated into the modern evidence-based medical quality management framework.Based on the latest research progress at home and abroad, this study reviews the current situation of cupping therapy for obesity from multiple dimensions including theoretical origin and development, mechanism of action, and clinical practice. The aim is to provide evidence-based basis for optimizing treatment plans and to look forward to future research directions, promoting the standardization and scientific development of this therapy.
