Abstract:Objective To systematically evaluate the multidimensional therapeutic effects of Buxu Decoction combined with Shenge Powder integrated with conventional Western medicine in high-risk patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods Ninety patients with stable COPD treated at Zhoukou People's Hospital from January 2022 to October 2024 were selected as the research object and randomly divided into a control group(conventional Western medicine therapy)and an observation group(integrated Chinese and Western medicine therapy),with 45 patients in each group.Comparisons were made between the two groups regarding the time to first moderate-to-severe acute exacerbation, nymber of occurences of moderate-to-severe acute exacerbations during treatment, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores, pulmonary ventilation function parameters, laboratory indicators, quality of life before and after treeotment, and rates of rehospitalization and emergency department visits due to acute exacerbations. Results The time to first moderate-to-severe acute exacerbation was longer in the observation group than that in the control group, while the number of moderate-to-severe acute exacerbations was significantly lower in the observation group(P<0.05).After treatment,TCM syndrome scores were significantly lower thow that in the observation group compared to the control group(P<0.05).Post-treatment improvements in forced vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1),and FEV1/FVC ratio were greater in the observation group(P<0.05).Peripheral blood cluster of differentiation(CD)4⁺ level was higher in the observation group, while the levels of CD8⁺,serum interleukin(IL)-6,and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)were lower(P<0.05).The Saint George's Respiratory Questionnaire(SGRQ)scores were lower in the observation group after treatment(P<0.05).The rehospitalization and emergency visit rates were significantly lower in the observation group(P<0.05).Conclusion Integrating Buxu Decoction and Shenge Powder with conventional Western medicine significantly prolongs the time to first moderate-to-severe acute exacerbation and reduces the annual frequency of exacerbations in high-risk patients with stable COPD.Additionally, this combined approach improves TCM clinical symptoms, enhances pulmonary function, optimizes CD4⁺ and CD8⁺T-lymphocyte subset distribution, reduce key inflammatory factors such as IL-6 and TNF-α,and ultimately improves overall quality of life while significantly reducing the risks of rehospitalization and emergency visits.
