Abstract:Objective The efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine compound combined with Western medicine in the treatment of gynecomastia(GYN)were systematically evaluated by using the meta-analysis method. Methods Chinese and English databases such as PubMed,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Weipu, and Wanfang were retrieved to screen out randomized controlled trials(RCT)of traditional Chinese medicine compound prescriptions combined with Western medicine for the treatment of GYN.The retrieval period was from the establishment of the databases to March 2025,and methodological quality evaluation was conducted.Statistical graphs were drawn using"Revman 5.4"software for meta-analysis,sensitivity analysis and analysis of publication bias. Results A total of 7 RCTs were included in this study, involving 550 patients, with 282 cases in an observation group and 268 cases in a control group. The results showed that the total effective rate and cure rate of GYN treated with traditional Chinese medicine compound combined with Western medicine were both higher than those treated with Western medicine alone(OR=6.99,95%CI:4.12-11.85,P<0.000 01;OR=3.84,95%CI 2.69-5.49,P<0.000 01).The ineffective rate was significantly lower than that of treatment with Western medicine alone(OR=0.14,95%CI:0.08-0.24,P<0.000 01),however,there was no statistically significant difference in the comparison of effective rates between the two regimens(OR=0.78,95%CI:0.54-1.12,P=0.18),and no adverse reactions were reported in the clinical trials. Conclusion The total effective rate and cure rate of traditional Chinese medicine compound combined with Western medicine in the treatment of GYN are significantly higher than those of Western medicine alone, and it does not increase adverse reactions. However, due to the limitations of the number and quality of included studies,large-sample prospective studies should still be conducted to confirm this conclusion.
