Abstract:Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of N-acetylcysteine combined with azithromycin sequential therapy on mycoplasma pneumonia in children. Methods A total of 60 children with mycoplasma pneumonia admitted to the Department of Pediatrics of Nanyang Second People's Hospital from March 2022 to March 2024 were prospectively included as the research subjects and randomly divided into an observation group and a control group by random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. All children received conventional symptomatic and supportive treatment after admission. The children in the control group received azithromycin sequential therapy on the basis of conventional symptomatic and supportive treatment, while the children in the observation group received N-acetylcysteine nebulization inhalation therapy in addition to the treatment of the control group. The clinical efficacy, time to relieve clinical symptoms, serum inflammatory factor levels before and after treatment, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the time to relieve each clinical symptom was shorter than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of serum C-reactive protein(CRP)and procalcitonin(PCT)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The N-acetylcysteine combined with azithromycin sequential therapy for mycoplasma pneumonia in children has a remarkable clinical effect, can rapidly improve the clinical symptoms of children, effectively inhibit the inflammatory response, and does not increase adverse reactions.
