Investigation on the Awareness of AIDS Prevention and Control Knowledge among Voluntary Blood Donors in Suzhou City from 2020 to 2022

Abstract:Objective To investigate the awareness of AIDS prevention and control knowledge among voluntary blood donors,analyze the influencing factors and behavioral characteristics of awareness rate,and provide a basis for popularizing AIDS-related knowledge among blood donors,reducing the risk of AIDS transmission through blood transfusion,and formulating AIDS prevention and control strategies.Methods A total of 3248 voluntary blood donors in Suzhou City from 2020 to 2022 were selected as the research subjects.Anonymous questionnaires were distributed to them to understand their awareness of AIDS-related knowledge.Data on their occupation,gender,educational level,marital status,etc.were collected and analyzed for correlation.Results Among the 3248 voluntary blood donors,the awareness rate of AIDS prevention and control knowledge was 81.2%,and the unawareness rate was 18.8%.There were statistically significant differences in awareness rates among different educational levels,occupations,places of residence,and age groups(P<0.05).Among them,those with college degrees or above,students,urban residents,and those aged 20-29 had the highest awareness rates.70.17%of the respondents expressed understanding and sympathy for people infected with HIV,17.64%were afraid of them,and 12.19%said they would not discriminate against AIDS patients but would not interact with them.Among the 107 people who had extramarital sexual behavior in the past year,there were statistically significant differences in the use of safety measures during sexual behavior among different occupations,ages,educational levels,and regions(P<0.05).Conclusion The awareness of AIDS prevention and control knowledge among voluntary blood donors in Suzhou City is generally moderate.Relevant departments should actively promote related knowledge and further strengthen warning education.More efforts should be made to popularize knowledge among those with low educational levels,the elderly,rural residents,and farmers.
