Abstract:Objective To explore the correlation between Helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection and the prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)in the military personnel stationed in Guizhou. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on 748 military personnel who underwent health examinations at 925th Hospital of PLA Joint Logistics Support Force from January 2020 to December 2020.They were divided into infection group and non-infection group based on the presence or absence of Hp infection.Relevant clinical data and blood biochemical indicators of the two groups were collected and compared.Further, they were divided into NAFLD group and non-NAFLD group based on the presence or absence of NAFLD.The relationship between NAFLD and Hp infection was explored through univariate analysis,Logistic multivariate regression analysis and stratified analysis. Results The levels of age, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, body mass index(BMI),total cholesterol(TC)and blood urea nitrogen(BUN)of the infection group were significantly higher than those of the non-infection group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Univariate analysis indicated that there was a statistically significant difference in the infection rate of Hp between the NAFLD population and the non-NAFLD population(P<0.05).After adjusting for confounding factors such as gender, triglycerides(TG),TC,fasting blood glucose, uric acid(UA),and BUN through multivariate Logistic regression analysis, the prevalence of NAFLD in Hp-positive individuals was significantly increased(OR=1.46,95%CI:1.00-2.12,P=0.049).However,after adjusting for age and BMI as confounding factors, the correlation between Hp positivity and the prevalence of NAFLD was no longer significant(P=0.084,P=0.288).Further stratified analysis showed that for military personnel stationed in Guizhou with a BMI of 17 kg·m-2<BMI<24 kg·m-2,Hp positivity was significantly associated with the incidence of NAFLD(P=0.044).Conclusion In military personnel stationed in Guizhou with normal weight,Hp positivity is associated with an increased risk of NAFLD.
