Abstract:Objective To investigate the prevalence of urogenital pathogen infections in male patients at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Chinese Medicine. Methods The clinical data of male patients who underwent urogenital pathogen testing at the outpatient department of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Chinese Medicine from March 2021 to February 2024 were retrospectively analyzed through the hospital information system. All patients completed pathogen testing and disease diagnosis. The positive rate of urogenital infections and disease diagnosis history were statistically analyzed. The pathogen identification results of patients with different ages and diseases were compared. Results A total of 1145 pathogen tests were conducted, with 462 positive results, the positive rate was 40.35%(462/1145).Among the 462 male urogenital infection patients,116 were positive for neisseria gonorrhoeae(NG),132 for ureaplasma urealyticum(Uu),140 for chlamydia trachomatis(CT),and 127 for mycoplasma hominis(MH).The disease diagnosis results showed:82 cases of urethritis,58 cases of epididymitis,75 cases of balanitis,93 cases of prostatitis,104 cases of gonorrhea, and 50 cases of sexual dysfunction. The positive rates of urogenital infections in men aged 41-50 and over 50 were 28.08%and 27.98%,respectively,which were lower than those in men aged 18-30 and 31-40(48.43%and 46.87%),and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the positive rates of urogenital infections between men aged 18-30 and 31-40(P>0.05).The positive rates of NG,Uu,and CT in men aged 41-50 and over 50 were lower than those in men aged 18-30 and 31-40,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The positive rates of MH in men aged 41-50 and over 50 were higher than those in men aged 18-30 and 31-40,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The positive rates of Uu,MH,and CT in patients with gonorrhea were lower than those in patients with other diseases, while the positive rate of NG was higher than that in patients with other diseases, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the positive rates of NG,Uu,CT,and MH among patients with other diseases except gonorrhea(P>0.05).Conclusion Urogenital infections in male patients at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Chinese Medicine are mainly in the age group of 18-40 years old, among them,NG,Mu,and CT are the main pathogenic bacteria, and there is a certain degree of mixed infection present.Patients infected with NG may not only develop gonorrhea but also other urogenital diseases.
