Abstract:Objective To analyze the impact of sequential nutritional support on the nutritional status and neurological function of patients with severe cerebral infarction undergoing interventional treatment in the intensive care unit(ICU).Methods A total of 90 patients with severe cerebral infarction who received interventional treatment in the ICU of Department of Zhumadian Central Hospital from January 2022 to January 2024 were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into a control group and an observation group according to the differences in nutritional support applied, with 45 cases in each group.Patients in the control group received conventional nutritional support(whole protein nutritional supplements),while patients in the observation group received sequential enteral nutritional support(short peptide enteral nutrition+whole protein nutritional supplements). The nutritional status, neurological function and activities of daily living of the two groups of patients were compared. Results After the intervention, the triceps skinfold thickness(TSF)and the triceps muscle circumference(MAMC)of the upper arm in both groups were greater than those before the intervention, and the levels in the observation group were greater than those in the control group. The levels of serum albumin(ALB),prealbumin(PA),and hemoglobin(HGB)were all higher than those before the intervention, and the levels of in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the intervention, the National Institutes of Health stroke scale(NIHSS)scores of the two groups of patients were lower than those before the intervention, and the scores of the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After the intervention, the Basel index(BI)scores of the two groups of patients were higher than those before the intervention, and the scores of the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of sequential nutritional support for patients with severe cerebral infarction undergoing interventional therapy in the ICU can significantly improve the nutritional status and neurological function of the patients, enhance their ability of daily living, and contribute to the prognosis and recovery of the patients.
