Abstract:Objective To explore the influencing factors of suicidal ideation or suicide attempts in patients with chronic functional pain and depression, and to analyze the relationship between suicidal ideation or suicide attempts and pain catastrophizing and self-efficacy.Methods A total of 80 patients with chronic functional pain and depression admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2023 to December 2023 were selected as the research subjects. The suicidal ideation and suicide attempt questionnaire was used to assess whether the patients had suicidal ideation or suicide attempts in the past year.According to the assessment results,33 patients were included in an observation group and 47 in a control group. The general data, pain catastrophizing[pain catastrophizing scale(PCS)score],and self-efficacy[chronic pain self-efficacy scale(CPSS)score]of the two groups were compared, and the influencing factors of suicidal ideation or suicide attempts in patients with chronic functional pain and depression and their correlation with pain catastrophizing and self-efficacy were analyzed. Results The proportion of patients in the observation group who lived in rural areas and had a chronic pain course of more than 12 months was higher than that in the control group. The total PCS score, rumination, magnification, and helplessness scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, while the total CPSS score, pain management, physical function, and symptom coping scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that living in rural areas and pain catastrophizing were risk factors for suicidal ideation or suicide attempts in patients, while self-efficacy was a protective factor(P<0.05).Conclusion Living area, pain catastrophizing, and self-efficacy are influencing factors for suicidal ideation or suicide attempts in patients with chronic functional pain and depression. The more obvious the pain catastrophizing and the lower the self-efficacy,the higher the risk of suicidal ideation or suicide attempts.
