Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of doxycycline combined with ambroxol on computed tomography(CT)imaging, lung function, and mycoplasma antibodies in the treatment of mycoplasma pneumonia. Methods A total of 80 children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia admitted to Zhengzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital from November 2021 to November 2023 were selected as the research subjects. All children were divided into two groups by drawing lots, namely an observation group and a control group, with 40 cases in each group.Routine symptomatic treatments such as fever reduction, cough suppression, and maintenance of acid-base and electrolyte balance are administered to all affected children. The control group received treatment with ambroxol on the basis of symptomatic treatment, while the observation group received treatment with doxycycline combined with ambroxol on the basis of symptomatic treatment. The clinical efficacy of two groups of children, including chest CT imaging characteristics, lung function, inflammatory factors, and positive rates of Mycoplasma antibody(MP Ab)titers before and after treatment were compared, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups of children. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);After treatment, the proportion of patients with lymph node enlargement, pleural effusion, gravel sign, bronchial wall thickening, gas filled bronchial sign, lung consolidation, and ground glass opacity related CT imaging features in both groups was significantly lower than before treatment, and the proportion of patients of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05);After treatment, the peak expiratory flow(PEF)levels of both groups of children increased compared to before treatment, and the PEF level of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05);After treatment, the levels of the white blood cell count(WBC),interleukin-6(IL-6),C-reactive protein(CRP),and MP Ab titer≥1:80 positivity rate in both groups of children were lower than before treatment, and the levels of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05);There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups of children(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of doxycycline and ambroxol has a significant therapeutic effect on Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia, which can further improve the chest CT imaging of children, enhance lung function, reduce the body's inflammatory response and MP Ab positivity rate, and has high safety.
