Abstract:Objective To investigate the sugar-controlling efficacy of liraglutide in the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)complicated by recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis. Methods A total of 166 patients with T2DM complicated by recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis who visited Jiangle County General Hospital from July 2021 to July 2023 were included in the study. They were divided into a control group(84 cases, treated with miconazole nitrate vaginal soft capsules, traditional Chinese medicine external wash combined with metformin)and an observation group(82 cases, with liraglutide added to the treatment regimen of the control group). The sugar-controlling effects(fasting blood glucose and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose levels),incidence of adverse reactions(hypoglycemia, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting),and clinical efficacy were compared between the two groups. Results After 8 weeks of treatment, the fasting blood glucose and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose levels in both groups were lower than before treatment, with the observation group showing even lower levels, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group(2.44%)was lower than that in the control group(13.10%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate in the observation group(98.78%)was higher than that in the control group(90.48%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The addition of liraglutide into the conventional treatment of patients with T2DM complicated by recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis results in better blood sugar regulation,it can reduce the risk of adverse reactions, and help to improve clinical efficacy.
