Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of Eucommia decoction in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMO)based on the theory of solute carrier family 7 member 11(SLC7A11)/glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4).Methods Retrospective collection of data from 160 PMO patients in Zhangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with 80 patients treated with conventional Western medicine as the control group, and 80 patients treated with conventional Western medicine plus Eucommia decoction as the observation group. The efficacy, bone strength(bone mineral content, bone density),bone metabolism, oxidative stress, and SLC7A11/GPX4 axis-related indicators of the two groups of patients were compared. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 96.25%,higher than 86.25%of the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05);The bone mineral content, bone mineral density and serum levels of glutathione(GSH),superoxide dismutase(SOD),SLC7A11 and GPX4 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the serum levels of anti-tartrate acid phosphatase(TRACP5b),osteocalcin(BGP),type I collagen cross-linked amino terminal peptide(NTX1)and serum malondialdehyde(MDA)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Eucommia decoction has a significant effect on PMO patients, can inhibit oxidative stress injury, regulate bone metabolism, improve bone strength, and up-regulate the expression of the SLC7A11/GPX4 axis.
