Abstract:Objective To explore the expression of REG4 and survivin in colorectal cancer, and to analyze the relationship with clinicopathologic features. Methods The expression of REG4 and survivin in 92 colorectal cancer and corresponding normal mucosa was evaluated by immunohistochemistry combining tissue microarray. The relationship between REG4 and survivin and clinicopathologic parameters were statistically assessed. Results The positive expression of REG4 and survivin in colorectal cancer were 53.3% (49/92) and 64.1% (59/92). The positive rates were 8.6% (8/92) and 3.3% (3/92) in the normal mucosa. The level of both REG4 and survivin in colorectal cancer was significantly higher than that in normal mucosa (P < 0.05). REG4 expression was related to differentiation, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage, while survivin was significantly correlated with the lymph node metastasis and TNM stage (P < 0.05). Both were not correlated with the patient′s gender, age, tumor size (P > 0.05). REG4 expression was positively associated with survivin (r =0.208, P<0.05). Conclusion REG4 and survivin were upregulated in colorectal carcinoma, and may be involved in the occurrence of colorectal cancer.
