Abstract:One case of pseudoxanthoma elasticum(PXE)is reported.A 53-year-old man presented with a 4-year history of asymptomatic yellowish papules on the face and neck.Systemic examination revealed no significant abnormalities.Dermatologic evaluation showed bilateral accentuation of cutaneous folds on the cheeks, jawline, and upper neck, with densely distributed, sharply demarcated yellow papules of varying sizes aligned along skin folds;some papules had coalesced and enlarged. The lesions were soft and smooth, with a characteristic"plucked-chicken skin"appearance, without appreciable cutaneous laxity.Histopathologic examination(HE)of a biopsy from the right mandibular region demonstrated loosening of the superficial to mid dermis with coarse, curled eosinophilic fibers, accompanied by lymphocytic and histiocytic infiltrates.Weigert elastic fiber staining revealed swollen, fragmented elastic fibers with a"crushed wool"appearance in the superficial and mid dermis. These findings were consistent with a diagnosis of PXE.
