Abstract:This study reported a case of oral mucocele with the auxiliary diagnosis by dermoscopy.A 14-year-old boy presented with a one-year history of a mucosal lesion on the lower lip.Clinical examination revealed a hemispherical,well-circumscribed nodule(0.5 cm×0.6 cm)on the lower labial mucosa, showing a clear margin, smooth surface, and soft texture without signs of erosion or ulceration.Dermoscopy demonstrated a hemispherical elevation on a reddish background, structureless white area in the center surrounded by numerous branched vessels and a few hairpin-like vessels.Histopathological examination revealed an essentially normal epithelium.Within the dermis,a cystic cavity containing abundant mucin, mucinophilic cells, and neutrophils was identified. The cavity wall lacked an epithelial lining and it was composed of granulation tissue. He was finally diagnosed with oral mucocele. The lesion was surgically excised, and no recurrence was observed during a two-month follow-up.
