Abstract:Scleroderma is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by fibrosis of the skin and mucous membranes, accompanied by metabolic changes.Metabolomics,as a novel histologic technique following genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics, plays a great role in the field of medicine. In metabolomics studies, the metabolic profiles of scleroderma patients can be determined by targeted and untargeted metabolomics techniques.Differentially expressed metabolites can be used as biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and risk prediction of scleroderma, thus improving the specificity and accuracy of diagnosis and prognosis prediction. In particular, metabolic changes in lipids, amino acids, and glucose levels may reflect the pathogenesis of scleroderma and organ fibrosis;metabolic changes associated with scleroderma therapy may improve the understanding of therapeutic drug mechanisms;and modulation of metabolic homeostasis may be a new therapeutic strategy for scleroderma.
