Abstract:Objective To investigate the multimodal skin imaging characteristics of lichen nitidus in children. Methods The multimodal skin imaging data of 56 children with lichen nitidus diagnosed in the Outpatient Department of Dermatology,Children's Hospital of Soochow University from January 2019 to June 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. All children underwent dermoscopy, and 11 children completed in vivo reflectance confocal microscopy(RCM).Results Dermoscopic images showed multiple circular white homogeneous areas scattered on the skin color background, with clear boundaries and non-fusions,and a small number of white scales on some lesions. The RCM images showed that thinner epidermis above the skin lesions, and significantly widened dermal papillary ring containing dense mixed inflammatory cells with mild or weak light refraction, and irregular morphological cells in clusters and long stripes with unequal high refraction. Conclusion Lichen nitidus has characteristic manifestations on dermoscopic and in vivo RCM images, providing strong objective basis for diagnosis.
