Abstract:A case of eosinophilic pustular folliculitis was reported.A 58-year-old man presented with facial papules and plaques for 12 days.Dermatological examination showed flaky dark red infiltrating plaques on both sides of the cheek, zygomatic region and posterior area of the right ear, with clear borders.Red papules were visible on the basis of the plaques, showing pint-sized pustules, yellow scales and crusts on the top of them.Red papules ranging in size from rice grains to mung beans were seen on the forehead and chin.A few pustules and scales could also be seen on the chin.Histopathological examination of the lesion showed mucin deposition in the dermal hair follicles, and infiltration of a large number of eosinophils, neutrophils, histiocytes and lymphocytes in blood vessels and around the hair follicles. The patient was finally diagnosed with eosinophilic pustular folliculitis. After treatment with prednisone and indomethacin tablets, the skin lesions completely subsided.Recurrence was not reported during the 18 months of follow-up.
