Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of apocrine exfoliation with single small incision in the treatment of severe bromhidrosis and its effect on traumatic stress. Methods A total of 106 patients with severe bromhidrosis treated in the Department of Medical Cosmetology,Xinyang Central Hospital from January 2021 to December 2022 were selected.According to the different treatment methods, they were divided into the control group(n=50,apocrine gland exfoliation via double incisions)and observation group(n=56,apocrine gland exfoliation with a single incision). The clinical efficacy, traumatic stress, surgical complications and treatment satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results The overall efficacy rate was 98.21%in the observation group, and 98.00%in the control group, showing no significant difference(P>0.05).The recurrent rate was 3.57(2/56)in the observation group, and 2.00%(1/50)in the control group, showing no significant difference(P>0.05).Serum cortisol(Cor)and epinephrine(E)at 2 hours postoperatively were significantly lower in the observation group than those of the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications was significantly lower in the observation group than that of the control group(1.79%vs 12.00%,P<0.05).The satisfaction scores of intraoperative tolerance, incision healing, postoperative odor improvement, scar appearance and upper limb movement function were significantly higher in the observation group than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Apocrine exfoliation with single small incision shows a comparable efficacy with that of double incisions in the surgical treatment of bromhidrosis, which effectively reduces traumatic stress, lowers the risk of complications, and elevates the overall treatment satisfaction.
