Abstract:Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of micro-plasma radio-frequency combined with subcision in treating atrophic acne scars. Methods Sixty-eight eligible patients with atrophic acne scars who visited the Xuzhou Municipal Hospital Affiliated to Xuzhou Medical University from January 2022 to June 2023 were divided into the observation group(n=34)and the control group(n=34)using the random number table.Patients in the observation group were first treated with subcision for atrophic acne scars, followed by micro-plasma radio-frequency treatment. Those in the control group received only micro-plasma radio-frequency treatment.Interventions in both groups were given once every 6 weeks, for a total of 5 sessions. Results There was no significant difference in the scores of ECCA(Echelle D'Evaluation Clinique des Cicatrices D'Acne)grading scale between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment,ECCA scores were significantly lower in the observation group compared to the control group, and the decline of the ECCA scores was significantly pronounced in the observation group than that of the control group(P<0.05).The efficacy rate was significantly higher in the observation group than that of the control group(97.06%[33/34]vs 82.35%[28/34],P<0.05).No significant difference was found in the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores between the observation group and the control group(5.67±1.36 vs 5.62±1.44,P>0.05).The incidence of adverse events was 20.59%in the observation group and 14.71%in the control group, showing no significant difference(P>0.05).Adverse events mainly consisted of pigmentation, persistent erythema, and subcutaneous hemorrhage. Conclusion Micro-plasma radio-frequency technology combined with subcision has good clinical efficacy that effectively alleviates symptoms of atrophic acne scars. It has better efficacy than single micro-plasma radio-frequency,and with good safety and mild adverse events. It is an effective, available treatment method for atrophic acne scars.
