Abstract:Currently,Mohs micrographic surgery(MMS)stands as the preferred treatment method for a multitude of cutaneous malignant tumors.Compared with traditional extensive surgical resection,MMS boasts a higher cure rate and excellent cosmetic outcomes. However, the most prevalent postoperative complication of MMS is surgical site infections(SSI).There are numerous factors influencing SSI after MMS,encompassing endogenous factors(such as those affecting the host's systemic defense mechanisms, including smoking, obesity, advanced age, concurrent diabetes mellitus, concurrent hypertension, etc.),exogenous factors(factors impacting the local wound environment, like aseptic techniques, wound exposure duration, antibiotic usage, etc.),and pathogenic microorganism factors. This article provides a comprehensive review of the influencing factors of SSI following MMS,with the aim of offering directions for dermatologists to control the occurrence of SSI after MMS.
