Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of 585nm flashlamp-pumped pulsed dye laser in treatment of 194 pediatric patients with spider angioma. Methods A total of 194 pediatric patients with spider angioma were treated with 585 nm flashlamp-pumped pulsed dye laser, followed up for more than 6 months.Subsequently,a further analysis was conducted to explore the correlations between clinical efficacy and factors such as disease duration, age and sex.Additionally,treatment-related adverse reactions and the recurrence rates of spider angioma were also examined. Results The 585 nm flashlamp-pumped pulsed dye laser demonstrated definite efficacy in treating pediatric spider angioma, with a cure rate of 89.7%and an overall effective rate of 100%.No significant differences in efficacy were observed across age,sex or disease duration(all P>0.05).Short-term postoperative adverse reactions included hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation;only 2 patients developed mild atrophic scars, which resolved completely during follow-up.No severe long-term adverse effects were reported.Recurrence occurred in 18 patients(9.7%)at the original treatment site within 1 month to 2 years postoperatively, and in 4 patients(2.2%)at non-treated facial sites. Conclusion The 585 nm flashlamp-pumped pulsed dye laser offers favorable efficacy in treating pediatric spider angioma, with good tolerability and a low incidence of adverse reactions such as scarring. It is more suitable for managing superficial vascular diseases in children.
