Research progress on the pathogenesis of alopecia areata

Abstract：The incidence of alopecia areata has been on the rise year by year,and it exhibits significant heterogeneity.The efficacy of various treatment methods varies widely,and its pathogenesis has not been fully elucidated.With the deepening of research,more pathogenic mechanisms of alopecia areata are gradually being revealed.This article reviews the possible pathogenic mechanisms from aspects such as genetic susceptibility,immunology,oxidative stress,autophagy,microbiota,environment,lifestyle,nutritional status,hormones,and infections.This review is conducive to identifying more therapeutic targets and providing more diversified ideas for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
