Update of cytokines in pathogenesis of vitiligo

Abstract:Vitiligo is a disease characterized by the loss of epidermal melanocytes,affecting 0.5%~2%of the world's population.Currently,it is believed that autoimmune-mediated melanocyte destruction is the main cause of vitiligo.Cytokines are a kind of proteins or peptides that can transmit information between cells and have immune regulatory functions.An increasing number of studies have shown that cytokines play an important role in the pathogenesis of vitiligo.This article will review the research progress of many kinds of cytokines such as interferon,tumor necrosis factor,interleukin and chemokine in the pathogenesis of vitiligo.
