Clinical and histopathologic analysis of 14 cases of cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman's disease
Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical and pathological features of cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman's disease so as to improve the understanding of the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Methods A retrospective analysis of 14 cases of cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman's disease from 2012 to 2017 in Department of Dermatology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University was performed. The clinical data and histopathologic characteristics were analyzed, and relevent literature were reviewed, and the diagnosis and treatment of the disease were summarized. Results A total of 14 cases of cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman's disease confirmed by pathology and immunohistochemistry were enrolled, including 5 males, 9 females, 12 Han, 1 Uygur and 1 Hui. The age ranged from 18 to 72 years, with an average age of 48±14 years. The clinical diagnosis of 4 patients was consistent with the pathological diagnosis, and the final diagnosis was cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman's disease. The immunohistochemical results of the 14 cases were all S100 and CD68 positive, and CD1a negative. Conclusion Cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman's disease has certain clinical and pathological features. For the case with single lesion or small area lesion, the effect of surgical removal was better. Department of Dermatology doctors should improve the understanding of the disease so as to reduce misdiagnosis and mistreatment.
