Comparative analysis of fluorescence staining, PAS staining and methylene blue staining in the diagnosis of malassezia folliculitis
Abstract:Objective To compare the value of fungal fluorescence staining, periodic acid schiff(PAS) staining, and methylene blue staining in the diagnosis of malassezia folliculitis. Methods A total of 100 cases of malassezia folliculitis were detected with three different techniques of fluorescence staining, PAS staining and methylene blue staining. Results There were 98 positive cases with fluorescence staining, 91 positive cases with PAS staining, and 93 positive cases with methylene blue staining. There was no significant difference in positive rate among the three different detection methods. Conclusion Fluorescence staining, PAS staining and methylene blue staining are all good detection methods for the diagnosis of malassezia folliculitis. Methylene blue staining method is easy to learn for beginners, which with low cost and suitable for clinical application.
