Clinical observation on ultrapulse CO2 laser in the treatment of 108 cases of xanthelasma palpebrarum

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of ultrapulse CO2 laser in the treatment of xanthelasma palpebrarum(XP).Methods The clinical data of 108 cases of XP including gender,age,location,history etc was recorded.All the patients were treated by ultrapulse CO2 laser with fluences of 0.5 W to 3 W.The patients with poor efficacy were retreated until skin lesions completely subsided,and the interval of treatment was 1 month.Results The upper eyelids were the most commonly affected sites,mostly occurred in elder people in the age of 40 to 60 years old,and dyslipidemia was founded in 45.4% of the patients.The cure rate after one treatment session was 96.3%,the total cure rate was 100%.24% of the patients presented mild to moderate scars and no relapse happened during follow-up of 3 months.Conclusion The ultrapulse CO2 laser is an effective,low-risk method for the treatment of XP.
