Abstract:Objective To compare the effects of fluorescent staining and KOH wet-mount in superficial fungal direct microscopy. Methods One hundred and five samples were taken from 105 patients of dermatological clinic. Both the fluorescent staining and KOH wet-mount were used in each case at the same time, and then the effects of the two methods were compared. Results In the total of 105 samples,85 cases of fungal positive were directed by fluorescent staining and 58 cases of fungal positive were directed by KOH wet-mount.The positive rate of fluorescent staining(80.95%) was higher than that of KOH wet-mount(55.23%).Conclusion The fluorescent staining is more rapid and accurate than KOH wet-mount,which can be used in the detection of superficial fungal infection.
