Abstract:Objective To measure serum level of 25-hydroxy vitamin D(HVD) in children with onychodystrophy, and to explore its role in the occurrence of onychodystrophy. Methods Peripheral blood samples were obtained from 22 children with onychodystrophy, 20 children with eczema and 15 healthy controls. High-performance liquid chromatography tandem-mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS) was performed to measure the serum levels of 25-HVD. Results The serum level of 25-HVD was significantly lower in children with onychodystrophy than in children with eczema and the healthy controls. Conclusion The serum level of 25-HVD evidently decreased in children with onychodystrophy, and it may participate in the occurrence of onychodystrophy.
