Abstract:Objective To investigate the prevalence of common allergens among chronic dermatitis/eczema patients and the correlation between these common allergens and patients' gender, age, and clinical characteristics. Methods A total of 1058 outpatients with chronic dermatitis/eczema in Department of Dermatology,Beijing Hospital, accepted patch test with Rui min standard allergens series from July 2011 to July 2016.Corresponding statistical methods were used to analyze respectively the correlation between the positive rate of allergens and patients' gender, age, duration of the disease, location and distribution of the lesions, and individual history of allergy. Results The overall positive rate of tested allergens for the 1058 patients was 38.6%.The female,non-elderly patients(less than 60 years old) or patients with individual history of allergy, generalized rash or longer duration of the disease(above 3 years) had higher positive rate of tested allergens than males, elderly patients(above 60 years old) or those without history of allergy,non-generalized rash or short duration(less than 3 years).Male patients had higher positive rate for potassium dichromate, parabensin, and earba mix compared to female patients. The patients in elderly group had higher positive rate for carba mix and lower positive rate for nickel sulfate compared to non-elderly group. Conclusion The total positive rate of patch test in chronic dermatitis/eczema patients was less than 40%.The positive rates of total and several common allergens were related to patients' gender, age, duration of the disease, individual history of allergy, and the distribution of the lesions.
