The application of reflectance confocal microscopy in the diagnosis of atypical seborrheic keratosis
Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical application of reflectance confocal microscopy in the diagnosis of atypical seborrheic keratosis. Methods Five patients with atypical seborrheic keratosis were observed by reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM).Results Although the clinical manifestations of the 5 patients were atypical, some common and characteristic pathological changes were found by RCM detection in the all 5 patients, including papillomatous hyperplasia, gyriform structure and pseudohorn cyst, which may help the doctor make a correct diagnosis. Conclusion As a novel non-invasive dermatologic examination method,RCM may be helpful for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of atypical seborrheic keratosis.
