Clinical analysis of 26 patients with drug-induced hypersensitivity syndrome

Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical manifestations,laboratory test results and therapeutics of drug-induced hypersensitivity syndrome(DIHS).Methods The clinical manifestations and laboratory test results of 26 patients with DIHS were analyzed retrospectively.Results The suspected sensitizing drugs of 26 cases were as follows:allopurinol in 12 cases,non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) in 4 cases,Chinese herbal medicines in 4 cases,anticonvulsants in 3 cases,metronidazole in 1 case,sulfasalazine in 1 case and mexiletine in 1 case.The incubation period of eruption was 13 to 60 days,all the cases accompanied with liver dysfunction,as well as accompanied with fever in 18 cases,multiple lymphadenopathy in 19 cases,renal impairment in 15 cases,leukocytosis in 25 cases and remarkable eosinophilia in 24 patients.Conclusions Ifa patient showed a long incubation period,diverse clinical manifestations,fever in the clinical course of medication,blood cell abnormalities,generalized rash and internal organs involvement,DIHS should be considered immediately,and systemic application of glucocorticoid combined with immunoglobulin high-dose pulse therapy maybe achieves better treatment effects.
