Analysis of a misdiagnosed patient with dermatomyositis
Abstract:A 59-year-old male patient presented with rash in his neck for 1 month, accompanied by itching symptom, prior to the onset of the illness, the patient had underwent strenuous exercises as well as a long history of ultraviolet irradiation. Early untypical clinical performance of the patient influenced the diagnosis. Five days after admission, the patient presented general weakness and muscle soreness. For these new symptoms, we improved the auxiliary examination and the diagnosis of dermatomyositis was considered. The diagnosis was confirmed by pathology examination of skin tissue and deltoid muscle biopsy, and then the treatment with 40 mg methylprednisolone given by intravenous drip per day was initiated, the curative effect of which was remarkable.
