Abstract:Keloid is a kind of benign disease characterized by fibroblasts hyperplasia and abnormal collagen accumulation. Keloid is a complex disease, its pathogenesis is not yet clear. Genetic, cytokines, inflammatory mediators, immune response and environmental factors all play a role. Genetic factors are thought to be an important cause of keloid. Scar constitution has certain genetic predisposition. Familial heritability, prevalence in twins and ethnicities with darker pigmented skins all support the concept of the genetic susceptibility to keloid scarring. The researches about gene expression, gene mutation, genetic loci will provide valuable theoretical evidences for the confirmation of susceptible population, early prevention and ideal control strategies.
