Abstract:Acne is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease of the pilosebaceous unit. Although its pathogenesis remains unknown, inflammation is considered as the most important mechanism of acne and in which propionibacterium acnes is the main pathogen. Propionibacterium acnes can induce inflammatory cascades by activating signaling pathways mediated by TLR2, which may lead to inflammatory acne. By regulating TLR2 receptor's function and expression, some medicines can play the role of anti-inflammatory and show the effect on the treatment of acne. In this article, we attempt to reviewe the role of TLR2 in the pathogenesis and related treatment methods of acne.
