A case report of DRESS induced by sulfasalazine and literature review
Abstract:A case of drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms(DRESS) induced by sulfasalazine is reported. A 50-year-old female presented maculopapular rash, fever, hypereosinophilia, liver and renal dysfunction after had been taking sulfasalazine for two weeks. Based on the scoring system for DRESS by RegiSCAR, DRESS was diagnosed. After treating with systemic steroids and other medicines, the patient was cured. Meanwhile, the literatures on the diagnosis and treatment of DRESS is reviewed.
