Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect and safety of hyaluronic acid gel and tacrolimus ointment on facial seborrheic dermatitis and the effect of hyaluronic acid gel and tacrolimus ointment on skin barrier function. Methods A total of 89 female outpatients with facial seborrheic dermatitis were randomly divided into two groups which were treated with hyaluronic acid gel (experiment group, n=45) or tacrolimus ointment (control group, n=44) respectively for 28 days. All subjects were followed-up on 7, 14 and 28 days in the process of treatment. Results There was no difference in the therapeutic effect between the experiment group and the control group after 28 days(P>0.05). Conclusion Hyaluronic acid gel has the similar efficacy of tacrolimus ointment in the treatment of facial seborrheic dermatitis. Hyaluronic acid gel could alleviate skin lesion and improve skin barrier function in the treatment of facial seborrheic dermatitis, which may be a good choice for combination therapy of facial seborrheic dermatitis.
