Research progress in the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis

Abstract：The treatment of seborrheic dermatitis by medicine, mainly focused on antifungal agents and calcineurin inhibitors. The applications of topical corticosteroids, nicotinamide and sodium hyaluronate have also been reported. Since long-term topical treatment with glucocorticoid steroid may induce hormone dependent dermatitis, the method is less adopted now. The application of nicotinamide and hyaluronic acid sodium in the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis remains to be studied. The physical treatment of seborrheic dermatitis mainly concentrates in the intense pulse light and photodynamic therapy, which can reduce sebaceous gland secretion of oils and fats, relieve the skin erythema, and worthy exploring. Narrow spectrum ultraviolet treatment of facial seborrheic dermatitis may induce homogeneous repigmentation, which limits its application. Treating seborrheic dermatitis with radiofrequency is still in the trial stage.
