Relationship between peripheral indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase and syphilis serofast:a prospective case-control study
Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between peripheral indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) and syphilis serofast. MethodsBased on a prospective case-control design, peripheral mononuclear cells of both serofast patients and healthy controls were isolated with ifcoll-paque density gradient centrifugation and then the IDO level in PBMC was detected with ELISA.ResulsIDO level in syphilis patients was signiifcantly higher than that in healthy controls. IDO level in serofast patients was signiifcantly higher than that in non-serofast patients. A close relationship was revealed between serofast state and elevation of peripheral IDO level with multi-variable Logistic regression model.ConclusionIDO may be involved in immune tolerance and serofast of syphilis.
