A meta-analysis of cohort studies on the susceptibility of psoriasis and renal disease
Abstract:Objective To study the susceptibility of psoriasis and renal disease. Methods All kinds of cohort studies comprising the risk of renal disease between psoriasis patients and control subjects were included. Six studies met our criteria, and the qualities of these studies were evaluated using the newcastle ottawa quality assessment scale. Statistical analyses were carried out with Stata software version 12.0. Results The meta-analysis showed an increased risk of renal disease in psoriasis patients (OR=1.17, 95% CI 1.07~1.29), Severe psoriasis had higher risk (OR=2.06, 95% CI 1.93~2.2). Conclusion Psoriasis may be an independent risk factor for renal diseases, severe psoriasis had higher risk than mild psoriasis.
