Abstract:Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection can cause a variety of benign and malignant lesions of skin and mucosa, such as condyloma acuminatum, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and cervical cancer. HPV infection can stimulate the host’s immune system (specific immunity and nonspecific immunity) that responses to some certain. HPV also can evade the surveillance and clearing of the host’s immune system through a variety of immune escape mechanisms. The interaction between HPV and the host immune system determines the different clinical manifestations of HPV infection (without clinical symptoms, lesions persist or even cancer). This paper will review the research progress of host’s immune response and immune escape mechanism after HPV infection.
