Epidemiology of psoriasis and metabolic syndrome

Abstract:Psoriasis is a common chronic inlfammatory skin disease, clinically characterized by squamous erythema and silvery-scaled maculopapules. Metabolic syndrome (MS) is a syndrome with central obesity as the core, meanwhile presents hyperglycemia, hypertension, lipid metabolism disorders and other pathological state of metabolic abnormalities. Psoriasis is not a single skin disease, maybe associated with multiple other systemic diseases, many clinical epidemiological studies conifrmed this view. In this article, the relationship between psoriasis and the metabolic syndrome and predisposing factors are reviewed.
